John Natividad was a world-rated karate fighter out of the Chuck Norris
camp, before his retirement
from competition in 1975, appearing in the Top 10 polls of such
publications as Black Belt and Professional Karate Magazine.
He burst into the national spotlight in 1970 at the Mike Stone
All-Star Team championships in California by defeating the top five
nationally ranked competitors on the same night, earning him the
name "Giant Killer". He also finished second in the heavyweight
division of the World ProAm.
In 1971 and 1972 he owned first-place and Grand Championship titles at
the Pasadena Open, Four Seasons Fall Team Championships, California
State Team Championships, Las Vegas Nationals, Western States Championships,
and Pacific Coast Team Invitational.
His biggest
year was 1973, when he won Grand Championship titles at the Colorado
State Championships, the
International Championships, Yamashita
Open, Northern California Karate Championships, and first places at the
Las Vegas Nationals and the Black Belt Team Championships in Washington,
D.C.
