Grandmaster Robert Kovaleski started training in the
martial art of Tang Soo
Do Moo Duk Kwan in 1966 at the Scranton Karate
School, under Senior International Grandmaster Frank
Trojanowicz, Dan #13333 .
As
member of the Korean Moo Duk Kwan Association
headed by the late Great Grandmaster Hwang Kee, he
began to teach and among others, taught martial arts
movie star Cynthia Rothrock who currently holds a 6th
Dan in Tang Soo Do awarded by Grandmaster Kovaleski.
He
has studied under Grandmasters Jae Chul Shin, Chun
Sik Kim, Ki Yun Yi and Tong In Chang in the early
through late 1970’s. Since 1998 he has been training
under Grandmaster Ho Sik Pak, founder and President
of the Hwa Rang World Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan
Federation in California, and is a member of its
Technical Advisory Committee.
Grandmaster Kovaleski continues to oversee the
International Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan Association (I.T.M.A.)
which he founded in September 1994, as well as two
Master Kovaleski's Tang Soo Do Karate Schools to
ensure that all students and members will not only
grow with proper Tang Soo Do technique, but also
grow in their personal and spiritual lives, and that
they learn the values of faithfulness, perseverance
and honesty.
On
October 30, 2003 he was promoted to 7th Dan by
Grandmaster Ho Sik Pak. Grandmaster Kovaleski
also holds a Sho Dan in Jiu Jitsu which he earned
from the National Karate Jiu Jitsu Union under
Grandmaster Richard Billargen in 1976.
